WHO WE ARE

Making music together at our church is a pleasure, and it definitely enhances the worship experience for parishioners. The music program at St. Gabriel's comprises Carla Strott, an energetic, creative and well-loved choir director and accompanist, twenty-two talented and intrepid adult choir members, and a handful of talented instrumentalists.

The adult choir sings each Sunday at the 10:30 service and for other special occasions. They also do a few "road trips" each year (we can be bought!).

St. Gabriel's has gratefully received a Rodgers organ from Grace Episcopal (our Mother Church). It has been a most wonderful addition to our congregation. We also use a Yamaha S80 when we need piano or other tone colors.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES

HOW TO READ MUSIC 101 is a three-class session which will meet on Wednesday evenings in July.  This is a fun session of classes geared for adults who just want to learn more about how to read their way through a piece of music.  Absolutely no prior experience with singing or playing an instrument is required, and we promise not to hog-tie you and force you to join the choir.  (Maybe.)

If you're interested, please let Carla know at (404) 376-5973 or carlastrott@gmail.com, or click on the MUSIC READING 101 REGISTRATION FORM at the top of this page.

If you've ever wanted to sing with the choir but didn't have time to commit to weekly Wednesday night rehearsals, summer is for YOU!  Anyone is welcomed to "suit up and sing" with us during June, July and August.  The Summer "Pick-Up Choir" consists of whoever shows up on any given Sunday--no commitment necessary.  The choir's only rehearsal is each Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 for that day's service.  For bonus points, let Carla know before Sunday morning, and we'll have your folder, robe and seating assignment waiting for you!

HOW WE'D LIKE TO EXPAND

We have an ever-changing number of folks in middle and high school who are fine singers and musicians, and a horde of children with angelic voices. It would be most fabulous to be able to offer youth or children's choir, and we are always on the lookout for willing and able adults who would like to volunteer to facilitate these groups. If you're interested in being a part of this music ministry, please Contact the Music Director.

We are always welcoming new choir members to our fold. (For more information on how to join the choir, click Interested in joining the choir?).

We would LOVE to add a baby grand piano to our instrumental collection (so if anybody has one lying around collecting dust and not being used, we'll gladly take it off your hands).

We value your continued input and ideas. We strive to make music choices that resonate with the members of our parish, and we are honored to be able to contribute to the ministry and worship experience at St. Gabriel's.
